A contact with the recognized comic creator Themo Lobos in Chile, and other Chilean illustrators put Salteri on the road to meet in Santiago with the late Patricio Jiron, director of Asteroide (sci-fi comic magazine) and Alacran (Adventure comic magazine). The meeting resulted in a new sci-fi graphic novel. Jiron who magazine was saturated with battles against aliens and extraterrestrial invasions asked Salteri to develop a hard sci-fi series with no trace of extraterrestrial life or any other sci-fi cliches. Salteri accepted the difficult task making first a deep research related to Mars scientific facts including researching information on geography, documents, photos, exploration and the environment of the red planet based on what was available in those days. Enrique L. Salteri, under the pen name of Martin Clavier, started Tycho Drumdust, a hard sci-fi graphic novel about different enigmas and the human condition in Mars in a near future. It was developed in 4 episodes (52 pages) and was published in Asteroide magazine. It is not easy to label this comic as a regular black and white comic because of the grey shade work technique, and the experimental mixing of computerized technique and electronic microscope imagery.
